Fist Fights and Other Such Nonesense

I think today will finally be the day that I have procurred enough photo copies and photos to be allowed a cellphone in India. Third time's to charm right?

In other news a fistfight on a bus was awesome as we all stopped in the street to watch, no one bothered to look at the clumsy angrezee (me), we all just watched the bus which was highly entertaining.

Hopefully in a few hours I will finally get to go to my work place and scope out the next few months of my life. Until then, I'll be wandering, staring at gorgeous food on the streets and looking forward to my wonderful flatmates to get home from work!

Sun Comin Up Over Chennai

There are advantages to arriving in a foreign country, waiting around 2 hours and finding out that your luggage is lost and that the only way to get it back is to get a phone from which to call the airport a gazzillion times to get it back.

Advantages like getting to see the sunrise over your new city instead of arriving in the dark, getting to drive through the slum outskirts at a time in the morning where traffic still consists mainly of cows laying in the middle of the road

Advantages like a 35GBP compensation card that sounds good even though its really not that great

Advantages like getting to go to your first AIESEC event in dirty clothes, without a shower or make up.

I'm thinking me and Chennai will be getting along pretty well...

Success!!!

First of all let me say this, there is nothing like sharing a king size bed on Michigan Ave. with a view of the Lake after weeks of sharing couches and sleep-fighting each other for turf on twin size beds.

There is also nothing like strolling into the Indian Consulate and walking out with A VISA...FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I"M GOING TO INDIA AND IM LEGAL!!!!!!!! WOO HOO :)

Visa Issues...

In search again of the elusive visa to India. After one attempt ended by capricious consulate people, 10 emails in search of a document no one has ever heard of, one missing alarm clock this morning, and the weight of my impending departure looming ever closer I'm wondering what state my karma must be in that I can't seem to get this freakin visa. Sure this is all good prep for how the great bureaucracy of India rolls but at this point it'd be nice to just be able to get on a plane and into the country...
